GST HSN Code for Fats, Oils, Waxes & their Fractions

Vegetable waxes fall under category Animal and vegetable fats and oils. And animal or vegetable wax of HSN code is 1521. Furthermost GST rate percent for Vegetable waxes is fixed at rate of 18%. GST rate on Vegetable fats and oils

Since, common man has worry about tax slab for various oil and fats. Initially, oil and fats is not kept under GST. But government decides to put majority of oil in 5% tax slab. However, edible oil producer asked for freedom from tax.

Vegetable Oils

Vegetable oil and fats with HSN code 1507 and 1516 fall under 5% tax slab. And these include all types of vegetable oils that are not chemical modified but can be refined. Therefore main oil falls under 5 % slabs. If oil is not chemical modified you have to bear 5% GST.

Fractions of Vegetable Oils

However, Fraction of vegetable oils that are chemical modify is kept under 12% tax slab by government. Probably, all vegetable oil that is dry. Such as blown, oxidized, boiled, sulfur zed, polymerized. And by heating vacuum or inert gas fall under this category. All fractions of vegetable oils fall under HSN 1516 category. And also fall under 12% GST slab on oils.

Soya-Bean Oil and Its Fractions

All types of soya-bean oil that are include in HSN code 1507 category. And they have been kept under 5% tax slabs. Moreover, Soya oil and its fractions that may or may not be refined. But it has not undergone any type of chemical modification fall under this category.

Vegetable Waxes

Vegetable waxes have been kept under one of high tax slabs. Therefore Triglycerides and all types of vegetable waxes are put under this 18% slab. Because, vegetable waxes which are unrefined or refined, colored or not colored. Otherwise if you want to sell or purchase at an 18% tax only.

Poultry Fat

Thus pig fats and lard have been kept under the 12% tax slab. However, poultry fats in exception are those fats that do not fall under HSN heading 0209 or 1503.

Fish/Marine Oils & Fats

Fats and oils derived from fishes and other marine animals. And also fall under the 12% tax slab. But 12% GST on oils and fats and their fractions obtained from fishes and mammals. It is kept on those that are not modified but may not refine. Moreover, this also excludes liver oils and their fractions.

Groundnut Oil and Its Fractions

Groundnut oil and all fractions are put under 5% tax slab as per new GST rules. They may not be refined to fall under this slab. It also includes deodorized salad oils and edible groundnut oils as well.

Olive Oil and Its Fractions

Its fractions and Olive oil are also taxed 5% GST. But chemically modified oils, virgin oils are not included in this slab. Because, this oils to be kept under this slab are refined or unrefined and edible as well as inedible.

 Palm Oil and Its Fractions

Palm oil and fractions are kept under the 5% tax slab. It excludes modify oils, crude oils, and its fractions. But include refined bleached deodorant palmolein.

Sunflower Oil and Its Fractions

Saffola oil and oils prepared from sunflower seeds, cotton seeds. In addition, like safflower seeds and their fractions will be taxed 5% GST. They will not be chemically modified to be put under this lowest slab. Hence, check List of GSTR types in India

Coconut Oil and Its Fractions

Coconut oils and all their fractions taxed 5% under new GST rates. Therefore Palm Kernel and Babassu oil are also kept under this slab. Same as above, coconut oils and their fractions can be refined or unrefined. But not chemically modified to be put under this slab.
