Government of India extended last date to file Income Tax Returns and linking Aadhaar card to PAN number on Monday. While as we reported earlier the last date to file ITR was July 31 but due to some reasons Indian Government extended this deadline. However till now IT department got more than 2 crore returns electronically that is through their e filing income tax portal.
Advance tax amount
Apart from that more than Rs. 58, 783 crore was received as advance tax. And this amount is for advance tax calculated till 30th June. Moreover if you look carefully at this amount then you can notice that over all there has been 11. 9 % increase in advance tax payments.
Technical errors, unable to link Aadhaar PAN
Income Tax Department had clearly stated that July 31 is last date to file income tax returns. But on other hand there were many complaints from people saying that they could not log in to official e filing website of the Income Tax Department (http://incometaxindiaefiling.gov.in/). So people made a request to officials to extend filing of returns deadline.
Furthermore tax payers also said that they could not link Aadhaar with PAN card numbers. In some cases reasons for not linking Aadhar and PAN number was that name on both documents did not match. Or other details on these documents did not match. Therefore people were facing problems.
In reply to these complaints some tax officials replied that there were no technical errors in tax filing site. It is so because all authorities tried their best to rectify errors. Besides as many people were logging in to file IT Returns at same point this situation happened.
Last date to file income tax returns extended to August 5
This is also another reason that tax officials extended tax filing deadline to August 5. In this way people can file their taxes in some more time. Additionally if they have any doubts regarding filing of taxes or require clarifications on taxes then tax payers may use tax helpline.

Last date to link Aadhar with PAN number
There is another good news for tax payers and it is extension of deadline to link Aadhaar PAN numbers. You must link Aadhaar and Permanent Account Number to file taxes. In case you could not do it in past you can link both Aadhaar card number and PAN card number till August 31.
Hence these extensions of deadline happened on Monday that is 31st July 2017. Therefore now you can file Income Tax Returns till 5 August 2017 and link Aadhaar PAN card till 31st August 2017.
